Rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants, limes offer numerous health benefits which include boosting immunity and reducing heart risk. The total citrus production was 2.4 million tonnes in 2014–2015 that constitutes 35.2% of total fruit production in Pakistan. Limes grow in tropical to subtropical climates and are valued by chefs and home cooks for their tart juice and aromatic zest for both sweet and savory culinary applications. There are two million seedling lime trees in Colima alone, and Mexico raises limes for fresh fruit sales as well as for the exportation of juice and lime oil.
